Top 5 Door Issues I See On A Regular Basis
As a general contractor, I’ve seen a lot of doors. I cannot even tell you how many I’ve seen, it’s that many. However, what I can tell you are the issues I see with them.
Here Are the Top 5 Door Issues that I see on a Regular Basis:
- Weatherstripping: Too short at top or bottom of jamb. Not installed properly. Not installed at all.
- Door not latching properly: You grab the knob or lever and the whole door moves. Does not fit snug against the weatherstripping.
- Door Sweep: Damaged. Not installed. Not making contact with threshold.
- Interior Doors: Do not have 1″ minimum clearance from floor covering to allow proper air flow when HVAC system is running.
- Interior Doors: Strike plate not installed properly for door to correctly latch so there is no play when the door is shut.
